Terms of use

Last updated October 3, 2026. A working draft, being reviewed before Arthur launches. Questions: hello@arthur.rocks.

The agreement

Arthur is run by Vengeance Foundation, a registered charity in Toronto, Ontario. By using Arthur you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you use Arthur for an organization, you agree for it too, and confirm you’re allowed to.

Your account

  • You need to be 14 or older to make an account. Buying tickets, paying a fee to apply or receiving a boon is for people 18 or older, or younger with a parent’s or guardian’s OK.
  • Give your real name and an email you use. One account per person.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.
  • We can pause or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people at risk.

Organizations

  • Arthur approves each organization before its page goes public. What you tell us when you apply must be true.
  • Each organization is responsible for its own pages, initiatives, events, open calls, and what it promises the people taking part.
  • Gifts go to the organization they’re made to. Registered charities issue their own official tax receipts, through Arthur.
  • Organizations, and the producers who run initiatives for them, promise to describe their events truthfully, keep the people at them safe, have the permits and insurance their events need, pay the people they’ve said they’ll pay, and keep to the refund rule they set.
  • If something an organization does on Arthur, or at its events, leads to a claim against Vengeance Foundation, the organization covers the cost of it. This applies to organizations, not to people using Arthur for themselves.

Giving, tickets and fees

  • A gift is a gift: it isn’t paying for anything, and a registered charity can give you a tax receipt for it.
  • Tickets and fees to apply are payments to the organizer, not gifts, so there’s no tax receipt for them. The organizer’s refund policy is shown before you pay and in your ticket email; ask them first.
  • If an event is cancelled, everyone who bought a ticket gets their money back in full, whatever its refund rule says.
  • Events may be photographed or filmed. By going, you may appear in photos or video the organizer uses to share and report on the event. If you’d rather not, tell the organizer.
  • The price shown is the price you pay. Arthur adds no fees at checkout.
  • A monthly gift continues until you stop it, which you can do any time from Manage your gifts.

Open calls

  • When you apply to an open call, you’re applying to the organization running it. If it asks you to agree to something, that agreement is between you and the organization, not Arthur.
  • The organization decides who it picks and why. Arthur doesn’t choose and can’t change its decision.
  • Producers who work with you can leave notes about how it went, which producers and organizations across Arthur can see, and report harassment, threats, violence or theft. Arthur checks safety reports before they’re shared and takes down anything unfair. See the privacy policy.
  • A fee to apply is paid to the organization. Whether it’s ever refunded is up to them; ask them first.

What you post

  • Stories, photos, videos and anything else you post must be yours to share, and true. Get permission before you post someone else’s photo or story.
  • You keep ownership of what you post. You let Arthur show it on Arthur, and in sharing Arthur, for as long as it’s up.
  • Nothing hateful, harassing, misleading or illegal. We can take down anything that is.
  • Think something on Arthur uses your work without permission, or says something false about you? Write to hello@arthur.rocks with the page and what’s wrong. We pass copyright notices on to the person who posted it, as Canada’s Copyright Act asks, and we look at every complaint about a person.

Community points and boons

  • Community points and levels are recognition. They have no cash value and can’t be sold or traded.
  • Boons are a producer honorarium, a talent award and a storyteller award from the Community Tree, for producing events, being selected for open calls and publishing stories. Vengeance Foundation approves each one; they’re paid when the Tree has the money, and are never guaranteed.
  • Faking events, shifts, picks or stories to earn points or boons loses them, and can lose your account. The rules are on How points work.
  • Any prize decided by rankings will have its rules (the prize, its value, who can win and how) published before it starts.
  • Boons are paid to people, not to the Community Tree’s own directors or staff, and may be taxable income: the organization that pays you may send you a tax slip.

Payments and payouts

Payments and payouts on Arthur are handled by Stripe. If you’re paid through Arthur, Stripe’s agreement for people it pays applies to you, and Stripe may confirm who you are, including through a credit agency in Canada. See Stripe’s agreements and privacy policy.

Arthur itself

  • We work hard to keep Arthur running and correct, but it’s provided as it is, and things can go wrong. Tell us with “Something not right?” on any page.
  • We aren’t responsible for events, payouts or promises made by organizations or people on Arthur, beyond what the law requires.
  • We may change Arthur, and these terms. If a change matters, we’ll say so and update the date at the top.

Leaving Arthur

You can stop using Arthur any time. To close your account, write to hello@arthur.rocks from the email you sign in with. We delete what we don’t have to keep. Records of gifts and receipts stay with the charity for as long as Canadian tax law requires, generally at least six years. Stories you’ve published can be taken down at the same time if you ask.

The law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada. Nothing in them takes away rights you have as a consumer under Ontario law, and there’s no clause sending disagreements to private arbitration.
